wanding

This is a new police procedure.  Sadly nothing to do with magic wands.  We have had for some time now the wand which is a handheld electronic device used to detect concealed illegal weapons. But in NSW the police procedure became legal in early December this year.  Police are now allowed in designated areas, usually areas of high traffic such as railway stations, to subject people to on-the-spot searches using a wand.  The first such search was at Central Station and produced a number of knives, a taser and drug paraphernalia.
