coffice

The concept of working in your local coffee shop with your laptop beside you and a cup of coffee in hand has been developing over the last decade, although I don’t think we have had a name for it until now.  But coffice has emerged in the last few years as the word to do the job, a blend of coffee and office, and the coffice worker is now a recognised figure in café culture.  Not that all café owners like the idea of having someone planted in their coffee shop, possibly consuming two coffees and a glass of water throughout a whole morning. A coffice etiquette has evolved which governs when it is ok to set up office in the café, and when you need to move along and make way for genuine customers.
