climate fires
The Californian wildfires of 2017 seem to be the first to be given the label climate fires, being described as the most deadly fires in Californian history. Climate fires are fires brought about by climate change, being different from anything else previously experienced in their ferocity, extent and duration. The precursor is prolonged drought and the immediate cause is intense heat brought about by global warming.
Now we have our own climate fires with megafires in four states. In addition we seem to be heading towards referring to these particular fires of 2019 as the Climate Fires with a capital c and a capital f, in much the same way as we now refer to the Millennium Drought.
