carnivore diet

Just as the rest of the world is talking about the need for a sustainable diet and worrying about the effect that meat-eating is having on the planet, the carnivore diet appears and it’s all about eating meat, meat and more meat.  This diet is the inverse of the vegan diet. It is an extreme form of the paleo diet which argued that human beings had in the dim dark past relied mostly on meat with a small amount of grains, nuts, etc. The carnivore diet says no to any grains or nuts. You can eat meat  (the fattier the better), fish, eggs and dairy foods low in lactose such as butter and hard cheese.

Shawn Baker, a former American orthopedic doctor, is the most well-known advocate of this diet which is as yet untested.  No research has been conducted into the effects of following it although, at face value, it would seem to be pretty unhealthy. Shawn Baker had his medical licence revoked in 2017 as a result of questions about his competency.
