Put the fries in the bag, bro!

This is a mild putdown.  It implies that someone is failing at what they are attempting to do (as in trying to make an impression on social media) and they should instead go and get a job at MacDonalds because that is all that they are good for.  It can also mean ‘Stop waffling and get to the point’.   There seems to be a little bit of fluidity in the meaning at the moment.

Recently this was a comment addressed to the Labor Government by Senator Fatima Payman in her speech opposing the age limits on the use of social media. At this point she was saying that the Government’s plan wouldn’t work, so they should ‘put the fries in the bag, lil’ bro’.  So while her audience in the Senate didn’t understand her, she was saying that Gen Z and Gen Alpha would.  She did however switch to normal-speak at a certain point so that her meaning was also made clear to her fellow Senators.
