low altitude economy
This is the economic activity which is set to flourish in the space from 1000 to 4000 metres above the earth. This is where drones, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle), eVTOLs (electric vertical take off and landing vehicles) and eSTOLs (electric short take off and landing vehicles) will operate, changing radically the method of delivery for parcels and people in our cities. China is investing heavily in this area, both in support for the production of drones and flying cars, and in preparation of regulations to control the resulting traffic. China already uses drones for many domestic purposes, such as emergency medical deliveries and cropdusting. The passenger drone (an eVTOL) is a cross between a drone and a helicopter with an autopilot system. The flying car (an eSTOL) is bigger and can be manually driven or set to self-drive. China is expecting the low altitude economy to flourish in the next ten years.
