para-standing tennis

Not all people with disabilities use a wheelchair.  So, while wheelchair tennis, developed in 1977, has catered for those in wheelchairs, it has left the standing disabled out of the game.  The rules for wheel chair tennis are exactly the same as the existing rules for abled players with the exception that the wheelchair tennis players are allowed two bounces of the ball.  The rules for para-standing tennis are evolving but mostly players follow the existing rules of tennis unless they have clear issues of mobility in which case two bounces are allowed. There is an international body which has classified the players in terms of their disabilities and established what is allowed for each category. Para-standing tennis is also referred to as adaptive standing tennis.
