re-entry anxiety

A recent ABC article described this as something experienced by people with pre-existing mental health conditions. While I am sure that those who suffer from anxiety and depression will find their condition exacerbated by the current loosening of  COVID restrictions, the malaise is being felt much more widely.  Many people are somewhat surprised to find that their initial reaction to Freedom Day is dismay and anxiety.  Some are entering situations where there is increased risk, such as teachers and children going back to school, but others are engaging in activities which, if they stop to analyse them, present no more risk than usual really. And yet we are worried.  Who knows what will happen next?

So we approach Freedom Day (yes, we are now allowed to call it Freedom Day) in NSW with mixed feelings.   We were all just getting the hang of picnics in the park and enjoying them.  Do we really want to go into a restaurant just yet? We do, however, really want to get our hair cut.
