elbow bump

Greetings and farewells remain a problem in the Rona.  The elbow bump which was proposed and generally adopted early in the piece has become a stylised dig of the elbow in the direction of the person being greeted or farewelled.  The farewell gesture seems to be often accompanied by the phrase virtual hugs.

I think the elbow bump has proved itself to be more useful than the Wuhan shake or tap, in which people tap their feet together, first one foot and then the other, rather than shake hands.  This had a brief popularity on the internet although whether it really happened, even in China, is doubtful. It becomes rather like a dance step and too many of us are left-footed.
