maskhole

This is a derogatory term used by people who do wear facemasks in public for those who don’t.  As they point out, the mask is there to prevent the wearer spreading aerosol droplets which might contain the disease. People who do not wear masks, either through laziness or misguided opposition, are selfishly refusing to protect others.

The word is a blend of facemask and arsehole.  It seemed to become popular in the middle of the year but spread widely, in part because there was a maskhole meme circulating on the internet. Karen from Bunnings appears in that, not wearing a mask. The one I like is Death chatting to a young man (not wearing a mask) and saying: “Nah fam, you said you’d rather die than wear a mask, so let me get that soul up off you playa.”
