Don't @ me

I came across this in a cartoon by First Dog on the Moon where he said:

They [the Australian Labor Party] will also be changing their name to the Australian bootLickers Party. Lol its a jk don’t @ me

 Don’t @ meis a phrase used in Twitter to ask people not to respond directly to the person making the tweet. It appears to have generalised in use to mean ‘don’t come back at me even though I have said something I know you will find objectionable’.  It can be written without the abbreviation as don’t at me.  It is an amusing transfer of a Twitter formula.
