green fairy
At the moment a search on green fairy in Australia is more likely to bring up absinthe than cannabis. The green fairies seem to be an NZ thing. They are people who grow cannabis for medicinal purposes and supply clients who are frustrated in attempting to access it legally. One of them (named Gandalf) has had his cannabis farm raided and is appearing before the courts in Whangārei in the far north of New Zealand. Gandalf is pictured above in a spectacularly lush growth of marijuana which sadly is no more. He is being supported by a group of clients who say that they will be severely distressed by the breakdown in supply. This could bring the green fairies to prominence in Australia as well. The CSIRO has done some research on the topic and decided that, although green fairies claim to match doses and strains of cannabis to particular patients, there is a great deal of random variation in doses and inaccuracies in labelling. But in the world of pain and disease, the green fairies have been working their magic.
