marine cloud brightening
Way back in 2018 I spoke about cloud brightening, the process of adding salt crystals to clouds which would then better reflect the rays of the sun, reduce the amount of sunlight falling on the earth, and ameliorate the effects of climate warming. Cloud brightening was just a possibility back then but it is now being tested, in a world first, on the Great Barrier Reef. This version of it is called marine cloud brightening because it makes use of the salt water available in the ocean, spraying it into the air using a water cannon and thereby adding trillions of salt crystals to the clouds formed. The water cannon is fixed onto a barge which trawls slowly around the area designated for protection. It seems that the accumulated effect of the protective salt-crystal cloud cover over a long period of time is what matters.
