food noise

If you find that your brain is constantly swerving away from the topic in hand to present thoughts to you about what you might eat next, what might be very, very yummy, what you simply have to eat NOW, then you are suffering from food noise.  This constant intrusive internal chatter about food-related things can seriously affect your eating habits.  Overweight you may be but you can’t stop obsessing about food.  There are now weight-loss medications that can also quiet that noise in your head and give you a chance to escape the tyranny of the food obsession. It is not clear yet how these medications reduce the noise but it is thought that, because they suppress appetite, they reduce brain activity related to food.
