personality hire

This is the person employed because they have charisma rather than technical know-how.  Gen Z believe that their social skills in establishing rapport with colleagues, creating a good vibe in the office and generally raising morale should be recognised.  This capacity to make everyone happy will be increasingly important as generative AI takes over the bulk of the office work. What is left to the humans is to set goals, make decisions, and bring the team along with them in achieving those goals in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Of course no one wants a staff member who, though wonderfully empathetic, is incompetent, constantly late, constantly indifferent to the demands of the job.  The office cannot entirely dispense with skills, but skills can be taught whereas a bubbly personality cannot emerge from a training course. It remains to be seen what the balance will be.
