tiger-striping

I had to wade through a certain amount of tiger stripe cocktails online in order to find tiger-striping but Google and I got there eventually.  This tiger striping belongs in the realm of the soberistas and the sober curious (see previous posts). It is the practice of alternating an alcoholic drink with a non-alcoholic drink.  This means that the market for non-alcoholic drinks of a sophisticated kind has expanded.  No longer is it confined to the bottles of red and white that look like wine and taste dreadful.  The internet abounds with suggestions for subtle and flavoursome drinks which still mostly aim to look like alcoholic drinks so you don’t need to advertise which tiger stripe you are on.  This is easier with the rise of alcopops and cocktails. While the trend may have started with the need for someone in the group to be the designated driver, it is now kicked along by health considerations.
