wishcycling

We give names to things that matter to us.  Occasionally names are created for things that ought to matter to us and wishcycling is one of these.  It seems that it is a bad habit that too many of us have, to throw things in the recycling bin, not because we know that they are recyclables but because we hope they are, that being the most convenient solution for us.  So the powers that be in the recycling world are adopting the name wishcycling for this bad habit in order to encourage us to focus on our bad behaviour and learn to curb our foolish hopes in the future. We will be wishcyclers no longer.

As is often the way with concocted words, it is not the most convincing coinage but it is being hammered by various organisations and authorities in the recycling business so perhaps it will do the job.
