Novid

The other name for this person is COVID virgin.  We have all wondered why it is that one person gets COVID but another, a partner or close relative, doesn’t, even though it is clear that the virus is highly contagious.  These people who have never had COVID are also under scrutiny from health researchers because the hypothesis is that the resistance they have to the virus must come from something unusual in their genes.  First of all they are tested for antibodies in their system because some people may have had COVID and just not realised it because the effect on them was so mild.  And of course none of this group can have had vaccination because that would also throw up antibodies in their system.  The true novids then have their genes matched against a norm, and specific genes that are suspected of being involved lined up against the norm, in the hope that that this will reveal the unusual twist in their genomic makeup.

There is the suggestion that NOVID is a blend of never and COVID, that is, it is the person who has never had COVID. The opposite to a NOVID is a COVID veteran, that is, someone who has had COVID a number of times.  You don’t want to be that.

This word is not to be confused with the contact tracing app for Covid that has been developed. This is probably a blend of NO and COVID with the NO as a reference to the anonymous nature of the contact tracing. NO GPS, NO email, NO name, NO personal data of any kind.
