COVID chaser

Last year saw the first COVID chasers, the health professionals who followed the path of the virus in order to give assistance to those most under pressure from an outbreak.  This name was modelled on storm chaser, someone who, when everyone else is running in the opposite direction, actually heads to the eye of the storm, either for the thrill of it or to catch it on camera.

Then the booster gave us another humorous chaser.  You could say that you had two shots and a chaser, not of the alcoholic kind.

Now we have a third COVID chaser, the person who decides that, if we are all going to catch the virus anyway, they might as well have it at a time that is convenient to them.  A person running their own business might decide that the January break when they and their customers are all away, is a good time for them to get the virus. A teacher might likewise decide that the school holidays is the best time for them.  So they actively seek to contract the virus in that period of time by going out to big parties or events, visiting people who have it, and so on.  The medical profession warn against this on the basis that you never know what you will get and how it will affect you.
