home quarantine

One of the many things we can look forward to once everyone is vaccinated is the possibility that we do our quarantine at home rather than in the government designated hotels and quarantine stations.  The advantages are that it is more comfortable and it doesn’t cost anything.  This may be possible for vaccinated travellers in the near future. It is being trialled in South Australia at the moment.

It will allow Australians to consider travel outside the country with the assurance that they can return home and stay in isolation, perhaps for a shorter period. It may also assist Australians still stranded overseas to finally come home because it eases the pressure on the government system.

Apparently technology is going to play a part in this with those supervising the quarantine using geo-location and facial recognition software. The person in quarantine is contacted randomly and required to produce proof of their location in 15 minutes.
