rejection violence

The violence inflicted on a woman by a man who has been rejected by her in some way, particularly as a dating or marriage partner, is called rejection violence.  Dating apps, which allow women to appraise and reject or accept possible partners relatively easily and quickly, have highlighted this reaction on the part of the men involved.  But it occurs in more traditional forms of courting as well which is why women have always tried to plan an exit. For example, they invent another boyfriend to explain their departure and protect them.  Or suddenly fall ill. The most common form of rejection violence is verbal abuse which is facilitated by the ease with which people can be outrageous online.  But in some cases this escalates to physical violence and even to what are termed rejection killings.
