elopement wedding

The Rona has changed the concept of elopement. Remember when elopements were all about climbing out of a bedroom window and riding a horse at a furious pace to Gretna Green while both families stormed and ranted in the background and the men mounted their horses in pursuit. Too late! They arrive at Gretna Green to find the knot has been tied and the damage done.

An elopement wedding in the time of the Rona is a very managed affair. There are companies which will organise the elopement for the bridal couple and the two witnesses to the destination of their choice. They will also do photographs and quite possibly stream or host the event so that the families and friends left behind can still take part in a fashion.  They promise minimal expense and fuss and no crowds with associated COVID dangers.

The difference between the elopement wedding and the micro-wedding is that for the latter you can have 50 guests.  So they promise an intimate affair on a small scale.  Somehow the elopement wedding sounds like more fun that the micro-wedding, which just sounds small.
