safety pee
The safety pee is an act of urination for which you don’t actually feel the need. You do, however, find it reassuring to have emptied your bladder before undertaking an activity in which you are likely to be cooped up for a long period of time, or in which you are in the full gaze of an audience and would be embarrassed by having to abandon the performance to go to the toilet. Small children are encouraged by their teachers to have a safety pee before a school concert. Adults, particularly professional musicians or actors, routinely do this before giving a performance. We all tend to do it before embarking on a journey. It is also referred to as a safety piss, depending on whether you are a person who favours pee or piss as your choice of terminology.
