Coronageddon
The Armageddon of the Bible is the chaos and confusion that precedes the end of the world. It is a moment when the forces of good and evil wage a final battle.
Coronageddon is the dire situation in which we find ourselves, caused by the virus itself (thousands are dying) or by the economic chaos caused by the response to the virus in which millions are losing their jobs.
The struggle with COVID-19 is often likened to a battle in which we must be courageous and strong. We will triumph over the evil virus if we just keep our resolve and, of course, our social distancing. How we survive a recession is much less certain. So far the streets have seen the signs saying No vaccinations (and no 5G!), along with We demand freedom from all these restrictions that take away our basic rights! The time is ripe for a few The End is Nigh signs as well.
The range of –geddons may be expanding. We now have carmageddon for the chaos caused by the fact that people are abandoning public transport and taking to their cars in vast numbers. Cities which have been trying to reduce their car traffic are now creating pop-up car parks and revising their use of parking meters and fines.
