This is an enforced holiday brought about by the circumstances around COVID-19.  It might be the 14-day quarantine that is obligatory for those who have the disease or who have been in contact with it. You may be packed off to a hotel room for the duration. Or, if you choose to self-isolate, you may take advantage of the pleasant rental accommodation available, on the grounds that you might as well enjoy your isolation in a holiday property of some kind rather than in your own room. It also applies to the situation in which you and the children are all at home needing to be entertained.  It’s like summer holidays but with a considerable difference. The word is a blend of coronavirus and vacation, combined in a way that is similar to staycation. Whereas there is an element of humour to staycation, there is black humour in the new coinage coronacation.
