hybrid office

This is an office in a business in which the staff spend part of their time working remotely, usually at home, and part of their time in the company office.

There is some discussion about how the hybrid office will be structured.  Traditionally the office has been regarded as the setting in which employees deliver the greatest productivity and have the greatest exposure to company culture and aspirations.  The pandemic experience has shown that employees working at home can be as productive, or even more productive, than the employees in the office.

What they do lack, however, is social connection with other employees, although the degree to which this is missed varies from one employee to another. Also there are certain moments of planning and creative thinking that are difficult to manage on ZOOM.  And contrived ZOOM coffee chats and quizzes and talent shows are not as much fun as the ones that happen with everyone in the room.  So before a company goes hybrid, it needs to get the balance right.  The hybrid employees of the future want the best working conditions, not the worst of both worlds.
