bin fire

This is a fire in a wheelie bin, whether deliberately or accidentally lit.  There is now something of a track record for deliberate lighting of fires in wheelie bins, either for warmth or to breath in the fumes and get a very dangerous high.  There is even a bin fire in a graffiti  attributed to Banksy. And the figurative use of the term is perhaps taking off.  The internet was described as a bin fire where we can all come and warm our hands.  A heated discussion in a local council meeting was described as a bin fire by one of the councillers. ‘What a bin fire’ she remarked. ‘If I had seen it in the street I would have called the fire brigade’.
