right to be forgotten
There are many people now who are old enough to look back at their online history and wish that they had not posted the things that they did when they were young and foolish. We all know that it is very difficult to remove something from the internet once you have published it there for all to see.
It is now possible, not to remove the offending post, but to remove the link to it from Google searches. This gives the individual the right to suppress the offending material. It is the right that we can exercise to have our outrageous activities online forgotten.
This happens in the EU, and it is under discussion in Australia. There are practical difficulties in enforcing such legislation. An opposing case is made by those who do not want is all to be rewriting history.
